COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course will review the use of oral pain relievers (analgesics), including how they work, how and when to prescribe them for specific ocular diagnoses.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Familiarize the reader with various analgesics used in treating ocular pain, their mechanisms of action, indications/contraindications, and potential side-effects
  • Provide fundamentals of pain pathophysiology and management strategies for various ocular conditions that can have associated pain
