COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course will instruct optometrists how to recognize genetic disorders affecting the eye including AMD, fundus flavimaculatus, aniridia and WIlms’ tumor, genetic syndromes, like RP and Fuch’s corneal dystrophy. Systemic conditions that affect the eye will also be discussed including heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, including retinoblastoma. Discussion will include what can be done to prevent or treat these conditions, as appropriate.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Aniridia and Wilms tumor
