his course will demonstrate how to optimize nutrition of the macula, with particular emphasis on the macular carotenoids (lutein, zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin). The course will also discuss the mechanisms by which these carotenoids exhibit their optical and properties for visual health and visual function. The presenter will explain how the macular carotenoids are sourced and prepared for eye-care food supplements, including the challenges that need to be overcome to ensure a stable and effective intervention. Novel data demonstrating how formulation using micro-micellular preparations can greatly enhance the delivery of these nutrients will be presented. *This course was recorded at our Virtual Island Eyes Conference on January 23, 2021
