COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is designed to educate the general optometrist on myopia control, and go over the current theories and opinions, treatment options, and ongoing research. It will focus on the treatment options and the current research that is most applicable for a busy optometrist in a full scope practice. This will provide guidance toward use of technology and knowledge in progressing myopia management in clinical practice. *This course was recorded at our Virtual Island Eyes Conference on January 29, 2021

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • To summarize and discuss the present and future of contact lenses and therapeutics in myopia management.
  • To provide guidance for integrating medical evidence-based practice into a busy optometric practice in the US.
  • To discuss the implantation of myopia management into a clinical practice and the availabilities of treatment strategies.
  • To review the current technology available for measuring myopia and managing it in children.
  • To review myopia management strategies and compare and contrast the different types of treatment for myopic progression.
  • To discuss the current state of myopia management in the US and review the evolution of myopic progression in the current population.
