COURSE DESCRIPTION:

In a grand round formats, Pacific University, College of Optometry residents will present topics of interest in The Red Eclipse: Retinal Arterial Macroaneurysms with Macular Involvement, Adult-onset Foveomacular Vitelliform Dystrophy, and Something’s Lurking underneath the Retina

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • To have clinicians be able to diagnose pachychoroid spectrum
  • To have clinicians be able to treat/manage pachychoroid spectrum or be able to refer in a timely manner to the correct provider.
  • Identify when a referral is necessary for further management with a retinal specialist.
  • Diagnose AFVD through careful ophthalmoscopy in combination with advanced technology like the optical coherence tomography and angiography (OCT/A), fundus autofluorescence (FAF), fluorescein angiography, and electrophysiological testing
  • Discuss management and treatment options currently available for retinal arterial macroaneurysms.
  • Recognize the clinical features of retinal arterial macroaneurysms on a dilated fundus exam and macular OCT.
