COURSE DESCRIPTION:

“Fight the Mite, Evicting Demodex Blepharitis,” is a one-hour course aimed at educating the eye-care practitioner on novel methods of diagnosing and treating Demodex blepharitis. Novel in-office and home therapies will be targeted, including the use of mechanical debridement technologies, Tea Tree Oil (TTO)/ Melaleuca Oil, hypochlorous acid, okra plant derivatives, and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • To characterize the mechanisms of action of different concentrations of Tea Tree Oil (TTO)/ Melaleuca Oil, Okra-based derivatives and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), in the treatment of Demodex Blepharitis
  • To distinguish the differences between scruf removal and eyelid debridement procedures
  • To identify the resulting ocular signs that indicate the presence of inflammatory Demodex eyelid disease
